Central Register of Planning Documents by the End of Year

The Agency for Spatial and Urban Planning of the Republic of Serbia is planning to establish the Central Register of Planning Documents which will be publicly accessible on the GIS platform, as announced at the joint meeting of the Network of the Heads of Urban Planning Departments and the Network for GIS of the Standing Conference of Towns and Municipalities.

According to the Law on Planning and Construction, the Agency is responsible for developing the Central Register of Planning Documents which should contain all valid planning documents as well as documents in the stage of development.

The Agency’s representatives at the meeting came out with the assessment that currently there are about 3,700 valid planning documents in Serbia, but that the exact number will be known only after all self-government units submit accurate lists. The Interim Director of the Agency, Đorđe Milić, pointed out the legal obligation according to which all planning documents in the Republic of Serbia should be developed in GIS format starting from the 1stof January 2028. The Director stated that it is a very demanding task, especially for self-government units which will have to respond to these new challenges in terms of human resources and organisation, and he also emphasised the need of passing new and harmonizing the existing by-laws in order to ensure full implementation of the E-space system.
